Hello and welcome to our weekly progress update, we have a lot to do, so I will make this short. The biggest thing we are working on is obviously the next episode that will take place on Rounos. Continue reading
.. month ever recorded by the us-american NOAA. And there’s an up to 80 % chance that an El-Niño will occure.
“Our understanding of El Niño and La Niña has increased dramatically in recent years and this knowledge has enabled us to develop very successful climate services for society. Advance warning has given governments around the world time to make contingency plans for the impact of this year’s expected El Niño on the agriculture, water management, health and other climate-sensitive sectors. (…) We remain vulnerable to this force of nature but we can protect ourselves by being better prepared. (…) El Niño leads to extreme events and has a pronounced warming effect. It is too early to assess the precise impact on global temperatures in 2014, but we expect the long-term warming trend to continue as a result of rising greenhouse gas concentrations.”

While we are working on the next mission that will take place on planet Rounos, we would like to introduce to you one of the new buildings that will be available:
The watchtower allows you to expand your territory. It’s the land version of the buoy station we added with Lorian.
Consumption: 15 money, 10 energy, 5 food, 5 goods
Pollution: 2 air, 2 ground
Obviously a lot of resources are necessary to keep it working – that’s the price you will have to pay for the expansion…
Currently we are discussing a possible new feature: Riots.
They occur in cities that have a bad mood for a serious amount of time. Riots can lead to nearby buildings being set on fire. Watchtowers could make sure that this doesn’t happen.
What do you think about the watchtower and about our riot idea?
There is something new we would like to show you:
Wildfires are caused by crashing meteorites, dry forests, exploding buildings or technical incidents.
They spread downwind and can be stopped by destructing affected buildings and cutting down forests. Additionally you can research a new tool to extinguish them.
Hopefully you will enjoy them as mush as we do! They will be released with the next update – probably at the end of July.
Jens & Martin
PS: In case you have some friends who would like to play the Imagine Earth Early Access:
20% on Steam Summer Sale until May 30th.
Phew!
We just released an update to the early access version of Imagine Earth on Steam.
And this is what’s new:
We have a brand new building called “Park district”. It has extensive park areas and houses 25,000 inhabitants AND improves the quality of life for neighbouring districts. Upgrades are “Urban gardening” and “Green facades”.
The park district is made available on Joma at 600k people.
Parallel to creating the new mission “Rounos” we put a lot of work in enhancing the Lorian mission. Here are the details:
And then there were some general bugs to be fixed (e.g. F12 screenshots not working correct) and we improved the Toolring. Now it’s possible to hook a tool (repair, harvest, …) to the cursor by pressing it’s icon for a second. This will allow you to mass upgrade, repair, .. your buildings more easily.
That’s it. Now it’s time to play the early access version on steam and check out the new content.
